Non-member requests for Hawaii Lantern Floating thru Apr 25

As you may already know, prayers can be offered by non-members towards the annual Hawaii Lantern Floating Ceremony with special forms that are actually placed on the lanterns to be set afloat on Memorial Day in Hawaii.  These forms will be available thru MON April 25 now.  We will have these forms available at the Shinjo Ito Day in Manhattan as well.

Details regarding IN STEP issue #23

"In Step No. 23" is a special issue. In Step normally traces the path of Keishu Sama when Her Holiness travels outside of Japan.

The Japan publication team created a special issue of the Oyasono Jiho, about Keishu Sama's visit to the tohoku region on March 24 and 25. This issue is available only on the Japanese Followers Site.

For the same reason, In Step No. 23 is related to the Japan earthquake. And will only be available online on the English Followers Site, USA Followers Site & Taiwan Followers Site. A link is also placed on the English Public Site. But there will be NO PRINT ISSUES.

2011 Hawaii Water Consolatory Service & Lantern Floating Attendance

In general

1.     If you wish to attend the Water Consolatory Service or Lantern Floating Hawaii Memorial Day please contact the nearest temple. Deadline:  May 15th , 2011
2.     Please be in fit condition to attend.  If you are not feeling well, inform a gohoshi person.  If you are taking medication, do not forget to bring it with you.
3.     In the locations where the ceremonies are held, please follow the guide. Please attend with gratitude in any situation.
4.     Please be careful of traffic accidents and prepare things well in advance.
5.     Please be considerate to others at the Hawaii temple, the Hawaii Convention Center and the Beach Park since non-members are able to attend the lantern floating. 
6.     At all times do not forget Shinnyo manners by being considerate to others especially in the lobby, inside airplane, hotel, restaurants, etc.
7.     Please do not burden the local members.
8.     Please keep your inquiries to Shinnyo-en Hawaii office to as minimal as possible.

             Place: Hawaii Convention Center

(Attendance at the Main Temple will be by special ticket only)    

2.     The water consolatory service and the lantern floating will be held in English. 
There will be no translation available.

3.     Paying Respects (Omairi) at Main Temple will be on May 29th, Sunday, from 2:00- 5:00 pm and May 31st, Tuesday from 10:00-5:00 pm.
Taxi for your return , if needed, will be arranged by the temple, so please notify a gohoshi person when you need one.



Lantern Floating Hawaii Memorial Day


1.     Time and place
 Lantern Floating
Hawaii Memorial Day  
  Time: May 30, 2011, 6:30pm   
         
   Place: Ala Moana Beach Park

2.     Robes and Okesa will not be worn at the Lantern Floating. Please do not chant at the beach.  It may be hot, and you will be seated on the sand so please dress casually.

3.     Portable toilets will be available at the Ala Moana Beach Park.  However, since the number is limited, please control your water intake accordingly.

4.     It gets hot during the day but may get cold after sunset so you may want to bring a light jacket.
