Upcoming Event in NY
Lantern Floating in New York: DATE: September 22nd Place: “Wollman Rink” in the Central Park, Manhattan New York (Details will be announced later) ·
"Guided Meditation" after some weekend services: This will be an open session to all who come to services, but particularly for guests at services (before they become members and start to receive sesshin), who may be curious and interested in meditation. We plan to try this out in March and April on selected weekend dates, with the first such date being Sat Mar 30 (after the Spring Higan Service). It will be much like the period of meditation everyone experienced in Winter Training, and will be held in the main altar room (Gohozen) right after the service.
"Shinnyo Meditation" : This is also an open opportunity for guests to experience an even deeper level of meditation than the "guided meditation," which is conducted by some of the spiritual guides. It is like a sample of "sesshin training" that practitoners take part, but geared especially for the general public. The next such opportunity will be Sat Apr 27 at 2pm. Registration will soon be made available through the temple office.
"Leaders' meeting" : We will have a special session integrating the lineage parents and the (associate) dharma teachers to discuss key points for our practice in a group setting. We would like to have the first such opportunity on Sun Mar 31 (after sesshin) in place of the Lineage Parents meeting. The topic of discussion will be "Going towards September 2013: Lantern Floating, Higan Service, and the welcoming of the Sacred Busts."
