central park cleaning cancelled for SAT JULY 23

Our Community Outreach group (Junko, David, Michael) has informed us that the Central Park Conservancy, who coordinate the cleaning opportunities in the Park, has decided to cancel the cleaning on Saturday due to the expected high temperature. Once the group finds a next date for us to be able to participate, they will let us know.

Sign-up process has begun for those interested in attending the service in Japan at Ogen Center on October 15th (11am), to re-enshrine the Parinirvana Image.

Due date to submit this form to the NY temple office is Aug 24.

Shinjo Ito Day Sat July 23 (3pm) at MTC

This month's focus: MEDITATION IN DAILY LIFE

We will have a panel discussion, guided meditation, and a small group conversation.

Light food and refreshments will be served as well.

All are welcome to attend!

back issues of NIRVANA etc available (FREE) for a limited time!

We have a huge stock of back issues of NIRVANA (as well as the Japanese NAIGAI JIHO etc.) and other publications such as the KANGI SEKAI in the old annex building. Members are free to take them home all the way through July.

Robe Wearing OK at training centers

As you may know, the formal Buddhist robes are worn by Dharma Teachers on special services at Shinnyo-en. We wanted to let you know that this applies at not only the NY temple, but at Training Centers as well.
This means that Dharma Teachers who have received their robes can wear them at service tomorrow at MTC.

New Annex Dedication!!!

We are happy to report that under the compassion and guidance of the buddhas and with your support, we were able to complete the dedication for the new annex building at Shinnyo-en New York on June 28, 2011. The ceremony took place under sunny conditions, as 147 people gathered for the occasion, including former Mayor (of the city of White Plains) Delfino. Looking back, it was on June 18^th, 1994 that the opening of the Shinnyo-en New York temple was held by Shinnyo Keishu-sama. It is truly a blessing to have been able to celebrate the dedication of the new annex building in the same month, from which we feel even more of the support of the Shinnyo Parents and the Two Dojis. With deep appreciation to Shinnyo Keishu-sama for giving us this new place to train, we the members at the New York temple will vow to continue our efforts of Mahayana altruism, and push forward to the centennial of Shoju Shin’in-sama’s birth!
